Written based on a traumatic set of life events that happened recently. My wife woke me up in the middle of the night to take her to the emergency room, and I'm glad she did. If we had waited any longer, she could have easily not made it.
lyrics
I can’t catch my breath
Sitting here next to you
Thinking bout what could have happened
had I turned right
Instead of left, late that night, last week
I can’t stop thinking about it
How it could have gone different
I didn’t know you were bleeding out inside
Holding my hand, slipping away
But for the grace of god, you woulda been gone
I woulda been sitting thinking how could i have known
I’m gonna hold you close, as these wounds heal
As we feel all these feelings, that are so hard to feel
I didn’t know how scared to be
Til the Dr said you were fine
And I realized
you were close to that line between hereafter and staying here with me
It’s never getting old
This getting old with you
Sitting here holding you
Holding my hand, every day
