"Searching for Hay" is a song about looking for what's real in the midst of things that are in general highly valued, but ultimately leave much to be desired.
This song was recorded on 9/10/2011 in a recording session at Paul Langford's studio in Chicago (paullangfordmusic.com) during a session originally intended to be a demo of five or songs. We were productive enough to go ahead and record a full album of songs.
lyrics
Searching for hay in stacks of golden needles
I keep searching so but I keep on hurting my hands
Golden needle I seem to have found but there is so many golden needles here
Searching for hay in stacks of golden needles.
Hold me here, tie me down, don't let me throw this all away
Searching for hay in stacks of golden needles.
You can take your thread through the eye
Stitch all your dreams to the empress's clothes
Drown in the endless sea, never find the way to tread
Searching for hay in stacks of golden needles
Hold me here, tie me down, don't let me throw this all away
Searching for hay in stacks of golden needles
Come, sit, my sweet, and I'll build us a house out of straw
This rope it will bind,
run your fingers through mine
Searching for hay in stacks of golden needles
Searching for hay in stacks of golden needles
I keep searching so but I keep on hurting my hands
Golden needle I seem to have found but there is so many golden needles here
Searching for hay in stacks of golden needles.
